(हिंदी छोटी कहानी एक ईमानदार लकड़हारा)
Once a wood-cutter was a tree at the bank of a river. (एक बार एक लकड़हारा नदी के किनारे एक पेड़ काट रहा था।)
By chance his axe fell into the water. (दैवयोग से उसकी कुल्हाड़ी पानी में गिर गयी।)
He began to weep. (वह रोने लगा.)
The god mercury heard his cries. (बुध देव ने उसकी पुकार सुन ली।)
He appeared before him and said. (वह उसके सामने प्रकट हुआ और बोला.)
“Why are you weeping?” (“क्यों रो रहे हो?”)
the wood-cutter told him the whole story. (लकड़हारे ने उसे पूरी कहानी बताई।)
The god dived. (भगवान ने गोता लगाया.)
Soon he came out with a golden axe. (जल्द ही वह एक सोने की कुल्हाड़ी लेकर बाहर आया।)
The wood-cutter said, “Sir, it is not my axe. (लकड़हारे ने कहा, “सर, यह मेरी कुल्हाड़ी नहीं है।)
My axe was not so beautiful.” (मेरी कुल्हाड़ी इतनी सुन्दर नहीं थी।”)
Then the god dived again. (तब भगवान ने फिर गोता लगाया।)
He came out with a silver axe. (वह चाँदी की कुल्हाड़ी लेकर बाहर आया।)
The wood cutter said. (लकड़ी काटने वाले ने कहा.)
“Sir, it is not mine. (“सर, यह मेरा नहीं है.)
My axe was not so shining.” (मेरी कुल्हाड़ी इतनी चमकीली नहीं थी।”)
The wood-cutter felt very happy. (लकड़हारा बहुत खुश हुआ।)
He said, “This is mine, how should I thank you?” (उन्होंने कहा, “यह मेरा है, मैं आपको कैसे धन्यवाद दूं?”)
The god was pleased at his honesty. (भगवान उसकी ईमानदारी से प्रसन्न हुए।)
He gave him all the three axes as reward. (उसने उसे इनाम में तीनों कुल्हाड़ियाँ दे दीं।)
Moral: – Honesty is the best policy. (शिक्षा:- ईमानदारी सबसे अच्छी नीति है।)
